Sintered Brass conical air silencer. Typically used in exhaust ports or any port that is open to atmosphere to help keep out foreign particles. Conical shape to maximise surface area. Also exhaust air is diffused along the surface area of the silencer dampening the noise omitted. Available from M5 to 2" BSP.

  • What is a Brass Air Silencer?

Brass Air Silencers are a conical air silencer made of Brass that are screwed into the exhaust ports of valves. They are designed to lower the noise of the air being expelled from the valve as well as keeping suspended solids out of the valve giving it a degree of protection. The conical surface of this silencer maximises available surface area for the air to escape.

  • How does a Brass Conical Silencer work?

The outside of the Brass fitting is threaded so it will go into the female exhaust port of the valve while the middle of the fitting holds a sintered conical surface which the air is dispersed through. This will slow the exhausted air down fractionally (however the conical surface will reduce this as it maximises available surface area) but it also lowers the noise of the exhausted air considerably. They also help stop any suspended solids from entering the valve through the exhaust port therefore prolonging the life of your valve.

  • How long will my Brass Silencer last?

This depends upon the environment that the air silencer operates in. The units themselves see very little mechanical wear as it is only the air flowing in and out of the valve. The most common occurrence is that they get blocked with dirt from the surrounding environment. They are meant to do this as they are protecting that dirt from going into the valve. They can usually be cleaned but may sometimes need to be replaced (it is a lot cheaper to replace these than your valve which is why they should be used).

  • How do I install a Brass Air Silencer?

These silencers will be threaded into the female exhaust ports on your valve or pneumatic actuator. Thread tape or sealant can be used if the user would like however they are not needed as air will exhaust from this port so a bubble tight seal is not required.

  • What are typical uses of a Brass Air Silencer?

The most common usage case would be on 5/2 valves such as namur solenoid valves or manually operated 5/2 valves. They are also commonly used on the exhaust ports of actuators where they are controlled by a 3/2 valve. Outside of this there are many other use cases such as exhausts of pressure relief valves, really anywhere air is exhausted there is a potential application.

  • How long will my product take to get to me?

This depends upon where you are based and the freight method chosen. If the express freight option is selected it is usually next day delivery to metropolitan areas in Australia for under 5kg. If free freight has been selected it will go by road freight which can be anywhere from 1 to 10 days depending upon your location. It usually averages 3 days.

  • What warranty do I get?

All of our products come standard with a 12 month warranty. The good news is we have very strict quality controls and all valves leave our warehouse tested and inspected so there are rarely any issues. Also once your valve is in and operating it will most likely continue to do so for a very long time barring any debris blocking it up.
