• What is a Square DIN Plug with LED light?

  The DIN plug is derived from a German standard which is now widely used to encompass a type of electrical connector. We use it when talking about solenoid valves as the electrical connector that goes onto the solenoid valve coil. It is also sometimes referred to as a Hershman plug as well. This DIN Plug is called a square DIN Plug as the body is square.

• How does a Square DIN plug with an LED light work?

  The DIN plug is where your electrical cable is terminated; has 3 terminals within it. There is a positive, negative & earth in DC or a neutral, live and earth in AC. This will then friction fit over the male terminals on your solenoid valve coil (there is also a screw through the center of the DIN plug which helps hold it tight on the coil). Included within the DIN plug is an LED light which when current is applied will turn on. This is a great way to visually check that there is power onto your valve.

• Does the DIN plug include a coil?

  No it does not include a coil, it is the DIN plug, gasket & screw only. These DIN plugs suit many different types of solenoid coils so they are not standard to just one size/type/brand of coil.

• How do I know that this DIN Plug will suit my existing solenoid coil?

  As long as the DIN plug fits the pin spacing of the existing coil (18mm pin spacing) and it is within the voltage range of the plug then it can be used. If it is used outside the designated voltage range the plug will still work just the LED light will either not come on or burn out.

• How long will my Square DIN Plug with LED last?

  Like any DIN Plug, this depends upon the usage case, duty cycle and external environment of the valve. If your valve is cycling every second, 24 hours a day, then its life will be shorter than one which is used once a day. The electrical supply to your DIN Plug can also determine its life cycle, as over voltage and or voltage spikes can shorten it, the same as any electrical equipment.  Also, the DIN plug cable gland should face down and a big enough drip loop on the cable to avoid moisture entering and damaging the coil and DIN plug.

• What are typical uses of a Square DIN Plug with an LED?

  These are commonly used in all sorts of solenoid valves. These fit across many styles, sizes and brands of coils/valves. They also do have uses outside of solenoid valves such as in the automotive industry.

• How do I wire and install my Square DIN Plug with LED?

  The good news is that our DIN plugs are not polarity conscious. This means that you can have DC positive and negative to either of the two terminals or Neutral and Live if using AC power. It is essential that power is never connected to the earth terminal. The earth terminal can only be for earth and is the large flat terminal on the plug. Also the termination block can be popped out of the DIN plug casing and rotated 90 degrees at a time so the plug can face any direction. This can be done with a small screwdriver on the flat slot that is on one side wall of the plug. The cable entry to the DIN plug should always face down if possible and allow a sufficient drip loop with your cable. This will help prevent water entering into the plug and maintain its IP65 rating.

• How long will my product take to get to me? 

  This depends upon where you are based and the freight method chosen. If the express freight option is selected it is usually next day delivery to metropolitan areas in Australia for under 5kg. If free freight has been selected it will go by road freight which can be anywhere from 1 to 10 days depending upon your location. It usually averages 3 days. You can rely on us to do everything to the best of our ability to despatch your order the same day we receive it, this is what we strive to do.

• What warranty do I get?

  We have been manufacturing Solenoid Valves for over 30 years so we have a lot of experience at making a great DIN Plug. All of our products come standard with a 12 month warranty. The good news is we have very strict quality controls and all our coils leave our warehouse tested and inspected so there are rarely any issues. Also, once your DIN Plug is in and operating it will most likely continue to do so for a very long time barring any external factors.
